Day to day itinenary

Day One – Welcome to Greece

Welcome to Athens, the fabled and vibrant metropolis of Greece….Upon your arrival you will be greeted at the airport and transferred by our private chauffeur service to your hotel located in the heart of the historical center of the city with amazing view on the Acropolis. You will be welcome with a glass of marvelous wine and you can spend some hour in leisure to wash away your journey. In the evening everyone gets together for a walk in the picturesque cobblestone streets of Plaka, the oldest neighborhood of the city, the so-called “the neighborhood of the Gods”, where we will have our welcome dinner.

Day Two

Acropolis of Athens – a place that inspires enlightenment

Finishing our breakfast we are ready to visit the sacred hill of the Acropolis. During this focused walk we will look closely at the Acropolis and its essential role in the city.

Our visit will cover the main buildings of the Acropolis, including:

– The Propylaea– the monumental entrance to the Acropolis

– The Erechtheion – an ancient Greek temple which was dedicated to both Athena and Poseidon

– The temple of Athena Nike – Nike means victory in Greece and Athena was worshipped as goddess of victory in war and wisdom.

– And, of course, the Parthenon.

New Acropolis Museum

We will complete our tour with a visit to the amazing New Acropolis Museum and its treasures. The Gallery of the Slopes of the Acropolis – The Archaic Gallery and  – The Parthenon Gallery .

This special day will be completed with a fine dining experience in a delightful and atmospheric roof garden restaurant in the shadow of the sacred rock of the Acropolis where you will relish traditional Greek dishes with Mediterranean inflections and marvelous wine.

Day Three

Epidaurus – Asclepieion: The birthplace of medicine

We gather for our last breakfast in Athens and finishing this we join our chauffer for our trip to Peloponnese. We leave Athens and taking a scenic coastal drive we pass the Corinth Canal which connects the two Greek Seas -The Aegean and the Ionian Sea and we reach Epidaurus.

In a valley surrounded by mountains, healing springs, green scenery, deep blue waters nearby, there is one of the oldest alternative medicine healing centers of the world with the best preserved theater of ancient Greece and Unesco’s world heritage sites, we are describing the Sanctuary of Asklepios at Epidaurus.

Asklepieion -considered to be the birthplace of medicine– was one of the most extensive sacred sanctuaries and celebrated healing centres of the Classical world. It was an impressive complex of buildings –temples, athletic facilities, the theater, baths, a guest house for 160 guests, stoas, gymnasia, stadium, tholos (a 14 Corinthian columned cella and a mysterious underground labyrinth), a ceremonial Hestiatoreion (banqueting hall) etc.

The Theater: An ancient Greek acoustic miracle

Architectural perfection, complete harmonization with the natural environment and perfect acoustics -which allow excellent intelligibility of unamplified spoken words from the skênê to all 15,000 spectators- are the unique characteristics of the Epidaurus Theater, the best preserved ancient theater in Greece.

We will have a full guided tour with our expert guide to the archaeological site and the museum.

After having our lunch at Epidaurus village we continue our journey towards the region of Elis in the southwest Peloponnese. Filled with images, thoughts and experiences from what we saw and learned it’s time to enjoy dreamy holidays in the amazing Olympia Riviera Thalasso Luxury Resort.

Here we will have the opportunity to relax, rejuvenate and enjoy a luxury holiday in a magical place by the sea. Let yourselves be savored all the enjoyment and luxury that the resort provides. In the evening we will have our dinner in one of the resort’ s restaurants.

Day Four

Discover the definition of “Relaxation’

After finishing our breakfast we are ready to start our well- being program. In the amazing – 4.500 sq m – Thalassotherapy Centre inspired by the sanctuary at Ancient Olympia we will indulge in luxury treatments which combine the wisdom of ancient Greeks who evaluated the healing properties of the sea with modern wellness regimens to relax the body and rejuvenate the spirit.

Let yourselves at the experts’ hands and enjoy the “The Elixir of Life”, an exceptional treatment we offer you for restoring body energy, revitalizing and hydrating.

Greek Gastronomy – meaning “the rules of the stomach”

Early in the afternoon we meet each other for our first cook class. The origin of the word “Gastronomy is attributed to Archestratus, the ancient Greek poet and philosopher, and Europe’s first gourmet writer. He was the first to approach cooking as an art and in his poem “Hedypatheia” or “Life of Luxury” reveals the secrets of ancient Greek cuisine and presents the five golden rules about cooking and eating that remain equally valuable today as they did back then – around 350 BC.

Fish in abundance, more so than meat, cereals, olives and olive oil, vegetables, onions, garlic, herbs, cheese, honey, fruits and nuts are the basic ingredients of authentic Greek recipes coming from antiquity.

Menu: – Greek Bruschetta (Dakos) with olive tapenade – Grilled seasonal fish with dill olive oil sauce – Baked vegetables (briam) – Fruit parfait

Day Five

Ancient Olympia

After having our breakfast we join once again our chauffer and travel to Ancient Olympia, also known as “the valley of the gods”, the birthplace of the Olympic Games. According to the World Heritage website, there is probably no ancient archaeological site anywhere in the world that has more relevance on today΄s world than Olympia.

We will have a full guided tour with our expert guide to the archaeological site and the museum. We will visit the ancient Stadium, the temple of Hera, the Philippaeum, the temple of Zeus, the Phidias workshop, the Palestra and our tour will be completed with the visit to museum.

The Archaeological Museum of Olympia, one of the most important museums in Greece, presents the long history of the most celebrated sanctuary of antiquity, the sanctuary of Zeus, father of both gods and men, where the Olympic Games were born. The sculpted decoration of the temple of Zeus, the most important example of the Severe Style in Greek art, the statue of Nike by Paionios and the Hermes of Praxiteles are the museum’s pieces de resistance. We will have our lunch at a traditional tavern at the village of Olympia.

We come back to our resort and spend the rest day in leisure. Early in the evening we will join our lecturer Prof. Efimia Karakantza and we will experience  a Greek Symposium while having our dinner at the resort’s restaurant with its spectacular view of the Ionian Sea.   Ancient Greek Symposium was a convivial meeting for drinking, eating, music, poetry and intellectual discussion. We aim to do just that in an entertaining and enjoyable way. Our discussion will be focused on “Eudaimonia” or “The Art of Living Well” according to ancient Greek philosophers.

Day Six
