From Athens to Epidaurus and from Hydra and Spetses island in Argosaronikos gulf to Ancient Olympia.

Welcome to Greece – Greek Philosophy tour will provide a chauffeur service upon arrival to take you to the Electra Palace Hotel, a 5 stars hotel located in the heart of the historical center of the city with amazing view on the Acropolis. You will be welcome with marvelous wine and spend some hour in leisure to wash away your journey.
At 19.30 in the evening everyone gets together for a welcome dinner in the hotel’s roof garden with its spectacular view. Following this we will enjoy a walk in the picturesque alleys of Plaka and Monastiraki.
After our breakfast we gather for our tour in the historical center of Athens. First we will explore the daily life in ancient Athens. Our walk begins in the Agora (market place). We will visit buildings such as Stoa, Hephesteion and Odeion of Agrippa and discuss their role in daily life.
From here we will walk towards the Kerameikos, an excavated cemetery where we can discuss how the ancient Greeks dealt with death. We will continue with our walking Acropolis tour. During this focused walk we will look closely at the Acropolis and its essential role in the city.
Our visit will cover the main buildings of the Acropolis, including the Erechtheion, the temple of Athena Nike, the Propylaea and, of course, the Parthenon. Our tour will be completed with a visit to the stunning new Acropolis Museum and its treasures.
We finish this tour with a deeper comprehension of ancient Athenian society and a basic answer to: why Athens is widely considered the touchstone of western civilization, the birthplace of democracy, sciences, philosophy and classical art. Later we return to our hotel for a quick rest, prior our evening activity.
When rested we gather and meet our lecturer and talk about how the Greeks tell stories. The Anger of Achilles (Homer) – Marrying your mother (Sophocles) – How to kill a husband (Aeschylus) – Fighting with God (Euripides) . This has nothing to do with dry lectures of abstruse terminology, this will be entertaining and intriguing. Classical Greek learning was a joyful thing, carried out in public places, often accompanied with wine, a concept that Greek Philosophy Tour intends to replicate.
This special day will be completed with our dinner in a specific restaurant where you’ll savor the original recipes of ancient Greek cuisine in a mystical place in the center of Athens.
We gather for our last breakfast in Athens and finishing this we join our chauffer for our trip to Peloponnese. We leave Athens and we take scenic drive along the coastal of the Argosaronic Gulf.
In about one hour and ten minutes we reach the Corinth Canal where we make a short stop to admire the Canal which connects the two Greek Seas -The Aegean and the Ionian Sea.
Ιn about an hour drive we reach Epidaurus. This world heritage listed city is reputed to be the birthplace of Apollo’s son Asklepios, the healer, and was the most celebrated healing center of the classical world. Epidaurus is probably most famous for its theatre, one of the best preserved classical Greek buildings and still used today due to its amazing acoustics.
We will have tour with our private guide in the archaeological site and visit the museum. In the afternoon we arrive at Nafplio and the Amalia hotel. When rested we will begin exploring the city.
On our walking tour we will visit the Old Town with its cobblestone alleys and its neoclassical well preserved mansions, the Syntagma Square and the Palamidi Castle which proudly stands 216 m above sea level.
Our tour will be completed with a dinner by the sea, in a restaurant specializing in authentic sea food delights.
We have an early breakfast and travel in our private van to Tolo (a village about half an hour far from Nafplio) where we board on the cruising ship for our daily cruise around the islands of Argosaronikos Gulf.
We will visit Hydra and Spetses, two small but magnificent, cosmopolitan and very popular islands.
Hydra, also known as the island of the artists, from the 50’s has been one of the most important cultural centers, which has been gathering famous personas of Arts and Literature from Greece and abroad. Leonard Cohen, Henry Miller and so many others who came to island and loved it recognizing it to be the ideal place for inspiration and creation.
Spetses, an island boasting a long naval tradition, is famous for its significant contribution to the 1821 War of Independence. The picturesque old harbour and Dápia, a tourist and commercial centre , are the trademarks of the town of Spetses. You can take a romantic trip around the island in horse-drawn carriages and admire the grand mansions adorning the narrow cobbled streets of the island.
Late in the afternoon we come back to Nafplio. Upon arrival the hotel offers a light dinner.
After taking our breakfast we will meet our lecturer for our second meeting where we will talk about : Explaining the world (Hesiod) – The first Physicists (the Prosocratic Philosophers) – What a about human beings (Politics – Ethics, Plato – Aristotle).
After finished we start our journey towards the region of Messinia in the southwest Peloponnese. Filled with images, thoughts and experiences from what we saw and learned it’s time to enjoy dreamy holidays in the amazing Costa Navarino Luxury Resort and Spa, a resort with international recognition.

After having our breakfast we join once again our chauffer and travel to Ancient Olympia, also known as “the valley of the gods”, the birthplace of the Olympic Games. According to the World Heritage website, there is probably no ancient archaeological site anywhere in the world that has more relevance on today΄s world than Olympia.
We will have a full guided tour with our expert guide to the archaeological site and the museum. We will visit the ancient Stadium, the temple of Hera, the Philippaeum, the temple of Zeus, the Phidias workshop, the Palestra and our tour will be completed with the visit to museum.
The Archaeological Museum of Olympia, one of the most important museums in Greece, presents the long history of the most celebrated sanctuary of antiquity, the sanctuary of Zeus, father of both gods and men, where the Olympic Games were born. The sculpted decoration of the temple of Zeus, the most important example of the Severe Style in Greek art, the statue of Nike by Paionios and the Hermes of Praxiteles are the museum’s pieces de resistance.
We come back to our resort and when rested we take our dinner.

In the evening after taking our dinner, we will join our lecturer and we will have another enjoyable discussion accompanied with chilled Greek wines.
